How does a „platbomat” work?

The client places their Česká spořitelna payment card in the „platbomat“, enters the card PIN and then follows the instructions that appear on the screen.

The „platbomat” includes a scanner and bar code or QR code reader. This machine makes it easier to make payments because it allows you to do the following:

  • scan data from the ČS payment order form (be it one item or even three items) and from Česká pošta (Czech Post) Type A postal orders,
  • scan the bar code on Czech Post „SIPO” (consolidated bill payment system) documents,
  • scan QR codes on the invoices of certain providers (at this time, companies like T-Mobile and Vodafone).

Once the information is scanned by the „platbomat”, the client only needs to check the accuracy of the scanned data.

„Platbomat” machines can scan only standard Česká spořitelna payment orders and money/postal orders.

Clients can also enter the details of a payment order directly using the keyboard on the „platbomat” (this method can also be used on all our more than 1 200 ATMs in the Czech Republic). Clients don’t need to enter their own account number, as the account linked to the payment card being used is filled in automatically (the payment card is used as identification). The payment is then authorised (=signed) via the PIN code for this card, which the client entered when starting to work with the „platbomat”. The number of payments that can be made using a „platbomat” is unlimited; however, in the interests of client security, the daily limit is CZK 500 000.
