Have you received a message that your tax assessment has been completed and that you can claim the discovered tax overpayment by clicking on the link provided? Warning: this is a scam! Scammers are ever perfecting their methods, so the message looks authentic. What does such a raid on your bank account look like?
When you click on the link and select your bank, you will be taken to a fake website that looks the same as the George sign-in page. Once you fill in your security details and confirm your login in the George key app, or enter the security code you have received via text message, you will be asked to confirm the “incoming payment”. In reality, however, this payment is an outgoing payment. This means the amount in question will disappear from your account
Recommendation:
- Do not enter your login details on the website that appears after clicking on the link provided in the message.
- Read carefully what you are confirming! And confirm only your own actions, never what you are asked to do by someone else.
- If you have ever received or receive a similar email/text message/message via social network, forward it to podvody@csas.cz (phishing@csas.cz).
- If, however, you have already clicked on such a link and provided your details, call us immediately on 800 207 207.
