What is a virtual payment card?

A virtual payment card works the same way as a physical payment card. It just does not exist in plastic form, but only in internet banking. 

With a virtual payment card, you can make immediate payments on the internet. Or you can upload it into a mobile phone using Apple Pay or Google Pay and thanks to this you can make payments in shops, restaurants etc. Obviously your mobile phone will need to be able to support this functionality.

You can also have a one-off virtual card. You can generate it, pay for one specific item and then the card will cease to exist. This way you avoid the risk that your card will be misused in future. The advantage of a virtual card is that it is available immediately, as soon as you set it up. You will not need to wait until it is produced and delivered to you by post.
