Skimming is the copying of data from the magnetic strip on payment cards at an ATM.
How can you protect yourself?
- Whenever you enter your PIN, cover the keypad with your hand.
- Select reasonable limits for cash withdrawals. Should your card be copied, the fraudster will only be able to withdraw cash up to your set daily limit. Setting and changing limits is free through internet banking.
- If you suspect anything unusual at an ATM (such as suspicious individuals near the ATM, stickers on the ATM, strange parts on the ATM or the appearance of the ATM itself), use a different ATM and inform us via our client help line on 800 207 207.
- Review your transactions regularly. Should you discover any discrepancies, contact us.
