#Stronger Society
Česká spořitelna sees its important role in impacting society as a whole - whether it is social banking, building affordable housing, supporting regions and neighborhood activities or financial literacy education.
We were the first bank in the domestic market to introduce a social banking concept that supports social enterprises and non-profit organizations through education, advice, and financing. The initiative seeks to help these organizations become self-sustaining and independent of grants and subsidies and ensure their long-term sustainability.
Through the Česká spořitelna Foundation, we help children and young people develop financial literacy, critical thinking, cooperation, and social skills. We support the modernization of the Czech education system, motivate teachers, and school management and move the education system towards the needs of modern society.
One of our key projects is Skoala, a modern financial education program. This digital platform delivers interactive content such as videos, games and methodologies that develop financial competences for pupils in a fun way. We also support projects such as Day for School, which connects teaching with practice, and Eduzměna, which brings innovative approaches to Czech schools.
Our grant programs and initiatives are transforming public spaces and improving life in communities and neighborhoods across the country. Each year, we help revitalize new neighborhood activities and strengthen community collaboration in selected regions.
We support people who have the courage and energy to change their neighborhoods for the better. Thanks to our development programs, these “movers” gain the necessary know-how and support for their projects, which often grow into beneficial and sustainable businesses.
In the “Days Different” program, our employees can dedicate two working days a year to help where it is needed most. Together, they engage in projects that contribute to improving the quality of life and the environment. In this way, we inspire cooperation, share experiences, and develop solidarity across the Czech Republic.
We care about the places where we live and want to improve the situation with the lack of affordable housing. That's why we invest in the construction of rental housing and support affordable, quality housing for those who themselves help others - people working in key professions with an impact on the quality of life in their regions (such as social workers, nurses, teachers, firefighters, police officers and others).
We believe that collaboration is key to achieving sustainability. We actively build relationships with external partners and stakeholders and seek opportunities for collaboration. Our commitment is confirmed by our collaboration with D&I Shapers and our role as signatories to the Diversity Charter. We are also signatories to the Employer Human Rights Decalogue, which was developed in collaboration with OPIM and the Government Office.
In addition, we have established partnerships with, for example, Change for the Better, the Czech Council for Sustainable Buildings and the Business Leaders Forum. We are also active members of the Sustainable Finance Commission of the Czech Banking Association.
