Warning about potential abuse of Internet banking through Facebook
We are again drawing your attention to the potential abuse of Internet banking through the Facebook social network. Through it, offenders attempt to elicit authorization codes..
The fraudster approaches the client under the profile of one of her friends and tells the client that he is having a problem with his telephone and asks whether he can have the authorisation SMS sent to the client’s phone, and asks the client to then forward it to him. If the client does so, she may lose a far higher amount. The actual owner of the profile through which the fraudster has approached the client probably has no idea about the fraud.
We warn you not to respond to any such message by any means, and not to resend the information requested. If you have already done so, however, we recommend that you immediately contact our toll-free information line at 800 207 207 and block your log-in information to your Internet banking.
