Ceska Sporitelna Launches Self-serve Terminals for Cashless Payments
Since the end of this February, Ceska Sporitelna has been installing
so-called transaction terminals at selected branches. These self-serve
devices allow clients to process their payment orders expeditiously. The
device can scan a money order or a payment order form and read information
directly from a bar code on a document. Thanks to that, the entering of a
payment order is very fast and user-friendly. Transaction terminals
feature a total of eight functions - in addition to making payment orders, for
example, clients can recharge mobile telephone credit, change a PIN on a card,
and obtain an account balance. Terminals have been put into pilot
operation at eleven Ceska Sporitelna branches, and their installation in other
POS of the Bank is being considered.
“Transaction terminals represent a new generation of cashless payments,
both in terms of the unusually fast processing of the payments and in terms of
security, as the client identifies himself with his payment card and by
entering his PIN before making the transaction,” said Miloslav Křečan, Director
of the Ceska Sporitelna Card Centre. Clients will quickly learn to work
the transaction terminals, because both their appearance and manner of use is
similar to Ceska Sporitelna’s ATMs, added Miloslav
Křečan.
Transaction terminals scan information from Sporitelna’s payment order
forms, from the A-type money orders of Czech Post, and from the SIPO documents
of Czech Post. With Czech Post SIPO documents, which feature a bar code,
the client will place the code on the terminal reader and the data will be
scanned automatically. The client can also enter the payment order details
directly, using the keyboard. The Client does not have to enter the payer
account number, as the account number connected to the card which the client
used to identify himself at the terminal is filled in automatically.
A transaction terminal features a total of eight functions: the entering of
payment orders, balance inquiries, recharging of mobile telephone credit,
inquiries as to the balance of the CS Bonus Programme account, changing a PIN
on a payment card, activating a card sent by post, card-limit inquiries, and
the personal menu “My Payments” - the possibility of pre-setting recurring
payments. The terminals are designed for all holders of Ceska Sporitelna
payment cards. The daily limit on cashless transfers is CZK 199,999 per
client.
Payment orders can also be entered through all Ceska Sporitelna ATMs, but
without the possibility of scanning or reading from a bar code. The Bank
had 1,218 ATMs throughout the country as at 31 December 2009.
