LIFE 90 (občanské sdružení Život 90)

Life 90, a civil association, provides humanitarian service for the elderly and runs the “PORTUS Home” in Prague, which offers counseling, information, transportation for the physically handicapped. The home is also a place where seniors can socialize by attending various clubs. The “PORTUS Home” is a unique model encouraging the elderly to live in their own homes and enabling them to stay in their environment as long as possible. The project addresses problems connected with old age through modern, humane methods. It enables dignified aging by keeping the elderly active and up-dated and by helping them to maintain their independence and self-sufficiency. Life 90 improves the quality of seniors´ lives, especially for those who live alone and/or are handicapped in their homes. In addition to Prague, there are Life 90 branches in Hradec Králové, Jihlava, Zruč nad Sázavou.
The cooperation with LIFE 90 began in 1992 when Česká spořitelna supported a TV program for seniors. In subsequent years, Česká spořitelna contributed to the reconstruction and later on to the purchase of equipment for the “PORTUS Home”. The Foundation of Česká spořitelna has been cooperating with the association since 2004.

Sananim (občanské sdružení SANANIM)

The civil association SANANIM is the biggest non-governmental organisation in the Czech Republic providing treatment including detoxification services for non-alcohol drug-addicted persons. Established in 1990, Sananim has developed a comprehensive system of care for the drug-addicted. At present, it operates six main programmes including: food cultivation programmes, the Contact Centre, the Daily Social Institution, therapeutic communities in Karlov and Němčice, and the Convalescent Centre. A number of additional programs exist, the most important of which is the Drug Information Centre. SANANIM is also active in education, crime prevention, publicity activities and building partnerships.
In 2004, the Foundation of Česká spořitelna took over the general partnership of SANANIM and the cooperation still continues. The Foundation supported the therapeutic community in Karlov, which has a dual focus: drug-abuse prevention through education; and, treatment of drug-addicted youngsters and mothers with children. This innovative community has created a special housing facility for drug-addicted mothers, where they can be treated and supported while continuing to care for their children. This new facility is a reconstructed building, housing mothers and their children. It was officially opened in 2003 and named “ LAURA” in honour of its first inhabitant, a baby-girl born to a resident patient.

The Foundation of Česká spořitelna is the general partner of the “Greenways Programme”, a project of the Partnership Foundation.
The Partnership Foundation is a non-profit organisation, which helps other non-profit organisations and partners in the fields of environment protection and local economy building through cross-sector cooperation. In the autumn of 2002, the European Committee decided to include the Greenways Programme as part of the European Week of Mobility. The mission of the programme is to connect citizens, organisations and local authorities so that they can work together to build their local economies and improve the quality of life in the regions where they live. The aim is to develop the Central European Greenways net (cycling and tourist trails) and to establish natural corridors connecting hundreds of local activities in the social, culture and economic spheres.
The cooperation started in 2004 and continues up to now.

The VIA Foundation

In 2005, the Foundation of Česká spořitelna became the general partner in the 3rd year of the “We are helping them improve the place where they live” programme of the VIA Foundation and thus it took over the general partnership from Česká spořitelna which had supported the two previous years. The aim of the project is the restoration or adaptation of unused or uncared-for public space. In selected places, the local non-profit organisations – with the help of the VIA Foundation- improve the environment of their villages or towns. The programme also contributes to restoration of the citizens´ interest in local affairs because it involves them in all the phases of the planning and construction. In 2007, the 5th year of the programme is being realized. So far, 20 parks, playgrounds and recreational zones have been restored or constructed, e.g. in Sedlec-Prčice, Krásná Lípa, Poděbrady, Nové Sady, Černošín or Třeboň.
